NEJ Clergy Women’s Consultation
The NEJ Clergy Women's Consultation will be held February 27 - March 2, 2011 in Lancaster, PA. A pre-consultation Ethnic Clergy Women Forum will run from February 26, 2011 at 7pm and end at 4pm on February 27, 2011.


The cost of the consultation is $200 which includes some meals and double occupancy for hotel rooms. The pre-consultation Ethnic Clergy Women's forum is an additional $70 double occupancy. This includes lunch on February 27, 2011. You can register on-line at www.epaumc.org/nejclergywomen.
Deepening Your Effectiveness Training
Vicky Starnes, Annapolis Southern Region Guide, conducted an online class last fall. It was so successful that she is offering it again this spring.

The class uses the book: Deepening Your Effectiveness: Restructuring the Local Church for Life Transformation by Dan Glover and Claudia Lavy. (The book can be ordered from Cokesbury. There is a local branch here at the Conference Mission Center for your convenience.)  The book offers a fresh perspective on developing disciples and reaching the unchurched.

Classes begin February 13, 2011 with weekly reading assignments and with an online discussion each week. The class will conclude with a two-day workshop on March 18-19, 2011  held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold, MD.

Job Opportunity
The Baltimore-Washington Conference, the regional headquarters for The United Methodist Church located in Fulton, MD, seeks a creative and dedicated individual to join its Mission Center Finance Team as the general ledger and payroll accountant.

This full-time position is available immediately to provide accounting support that includes tracks the financial health of the Conference and the accurate preparation of payroll.

Requirements include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3 - 5 years of accounting experience with minimum of 2 years experience with General Ledger and Payroll functions
·        Full knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and financial reporting
·        Ability to utilize computerized accounting packages and applications for preparation of comprehensive spreadsheets
·        Ability to analyze accounts and develop journal entries
·        Experience with payroll procedures, labor and tax compliances

Special Aspects of Position
·        Excellent organizational skills
·        Exceptional customer service and effective communications skills
·        Ability to maintain confidential information

Thomas Kemper to speak at Foundry United Methodist Church
Thomas Kemper, Chief Executive of the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, will speak at Foundry United Methodist Church, 1500 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC, this coming June.

He will preach on Sunday June 19 at the 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5:30 pm. services. A former missionary in Brazil, Kemper lled the Board of Missions and International Church Cooperation of the United Methodist Church in Germany before being selected to lead the General Board of Global Ministries in 2010.
This coming July Foundry will also host a series of nationally-known preachers and teachers of preachers in our 2011 Summer in the City preaching series. This will be the first year preachers will speak at the 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. services. The preachers and teachers of preachers are:

Due to space and food constraints for these classes, we will not be allowing walk-in registrations on the day that the class starts. Please be sure to register by the registration deadline.
